Notorious for its impressive roster of Billboard chart-toppers and music award-amassers, it comes as no surprise that Cash Money Records has broken yet another record. Releasing hits after hits for 21 years and counting, Cash Money has notched its biggest milestone yet, selling over 500 million singles worldwide.
Having a successful reign in the music industry since its existence, the popular record label only signed the best on its roster to continue delivering the best music and videos to its fans. With Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Busta Rhymes, Bow Wow, and Tyga among others, YMCMB officially crossed the mark for half billion singles sold.
Bryan “Birdman” Williams, one of the founders, told AllHipHop in a statement:
“There is no more dynamic and prolific a label than Cash Money Records and the YMCMB family – point blank. We’re proud of every one of our artists and their contribution to our legacy.
“What’s most humbling is the global reaction to our story. Slim and I built this label from the ground up and seeing our brand connect with people across borders, culture, and language makes us appreciate every one of our fans worldwide.
Birdman added that success is what he and his brother (and co-owner) Ronald “Slim” Williams are “always aiming for” and they have no intention of stopping now.
“We can’t wait to deliver another 500 million bangers. Success is something that Slim and I have always aimed for. It feels great to sell 500 million songs but fans should know, we aren’t going to stop now and will continue our legacy.”
No doubt Cash Money is one of the powerhouse labels in the hip-hop scene today.
