adidas has finally confirmed that Kanye West will officially be part of its family in the coming year. In a statement made by the Three Stripes brand yesterday (December 3) as per MTV, they have welcomed the Yeezus MC on their team and considered the hip hop star as an influential cultural icon of this generation.
“For 2014, we welcome to the adidas family one of the most influential cultural icons of this generation, Kanye West. Well known for breaking boundaries across music, film and design and partnering with our history in street wear culture and leading innovations in sport, we look forward to creating a new chapter. Details to follow.”
It was only weeks ago when Kanye made an unofficial announcement about his deal with the German sportswear brand, which was rumored to be worth $10 million, and let out some derisive remarks against Nike and its CEO Mark Parker for failing to offer him royalties for his Air Yeezy sneakers.
There are no further details yet on ‘Ye’s creative collaboration with adidas. Stay tuned for more updates.
