10. E.T the Extra- Terrestrial (1982)

It is a science fiction movie which tells the story of Elliott, a lonely 10 year old boy and his friendship with an extra-terrestrial who is lost and left behind on earth when a group of aliens visited this planet. Elliott and his two siblings Michael and Gertie help the extraterrestrial return home while trying to keep it a secret well hidden from their single mother and the government scientists. The two begin to communicate with each other through telepathy and start a different kind of friendship from which Elliot becomes braver and learns about some new values for the true meaning of friendship and ET learns about life on earth.
Some movies are so entertaining that people hold them in their hearts, E.T is one of them. It is also one of the movies you’d like to see a kid grow up with. The movie evokes laughter, tears and that heart-lifting surge of joy only a great movie can bring. It is definitely worth a watch.

After receiving the healing powers from the flower, the baby princess is kidnapped by an old enchantress Mother Gothel. The magically long haired Rapunzel is then kept in an isolated tower for her entire life until a handsome intruder takes her out to the world she has never even imagined.
The movie has enough silliness, adventure and romance to allow boys and girls of almost all ages to totally fall in love with it. It has enough emotions to bring waterworks to anybody’s eyes and enough humor to entertain and the lantern scene is so much awesome that you’d wish upon a star to see a similar scene in your real life.

7. DESPICABLE ME (2010)

The three orphaned girls he had adopted as a bait change his life and himself in a way nobody would consider possible. With the three little girls Margo, Edith and Agnes in his life, the world’s greatest villain ends up being from being super-bad to a super-dad.
The Minion’s with their cuteness, language and manners stand out as the funniest part of the movie and the kids in the movie are hilarious. The movie is a real treat. It is sure to make everybody laugh out loud while also evoking some emotions and after watching the full movie, it will tempt to watch the sequel too. Warning: Kids might start annoying you with the banana language.

6. HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON (2010)

How to Train Your Dragon is a movie slightly based on the book series of the same name by Cressida Cowell. The story begins long ago up North in a mythical Viking world where a young Viking Hiccup aspires to become a dragon slayer. Hiccup wants to join his tribes fight against the dragons that continually raid their town. But after finally capturing his first dragon whom he names Toothless, Hiccup realizes that he no longer has the desire to kill it and instead befriends it, learning that his people have misjudged the species.
The strength of the movie is the relationship between Hiccup and Toothless. Overall, it is an adventure story about the friendship of a man and a beast with a striking visual and humor enough to make anybody laugh.

It presents Simba’s happy childhood and as he grows up, his journey of love, friendship and discovery which leads to the acceptance of his royal destiny.
The Lion King tells us its mythic tale with a combination of top notch animation, lively music and rhythmic songs making us all smile, laugh and cry at the same time. Some parts are so happy that you can’t help but smile, some so funny that you burst out laughing and some so touchy that tears well up in your eyes without you even noticing them. The movie is a deeply touching and near-perfect emotional triumph which teaches us that life is a journey; a journey of finding our true self. That death is a natural part of life, that it’s better to do what is right instead of what is easier and that the good always, wins over the evil. To say that the lion king is an amazing movie would be an understatement and it is a movie that never gets old. Never.

Finding Nemo is a stunning and eventful under-water journey of two characters; the fretful clown fish Marlin and his only family; his son- the boy clown fish Nemo who are separated from each other in the Great Barrier Reef when Nemo is stolen from his home and kept into a fish tank in a dentist’s office at Sydney. Marlin with his absent-minded friend Dory sets off across the ocean to find Nemo while the daring Nemo hatches his own plans with his tank mates to escape from his new home.
It is a genuinely funny and touching movie. It is wonderfully animated, visually flawless and a fun watch from the beginning to the end. The sea adventure makes the movie irresistible and you’d definitely find it worth the watch.

The toy story is about the universe where toys are the heroes which come to life when nobody is watching. Buzz and Andy end up fighting and get trapped together in the next door neighbor’s house and a truce is formed between them in an effort to journey home. In that journey, they learn how to work together through everything.
As kids, we always wonder whether our toys contain life, whether they have feelings like we do and Toy Story shows us that they do so Toy story is literally imaginations coming to life. It is also the first feature movie ever to be made entirely by a computer and the more you come to know about the making of the movie, the more respect you gain for it.

The LEGO movie as the name indicates, is based on the Lego line of construction toys. It is a 3D animated movie that follows an ordinary LEGO mini-figure Emmet who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person when he accidently stumbles upon the piece of resistance which is able to stop a super-weapon called ‘Kragle’ wrongfully stolen by the villain named as Lord Business. According to a prophecy, poor Emmet is proclaimed as the ‘Special One’, and is suddenly burdened with the mission to stop the destruction of the world, a mission he vaguely knows about. The tough action heroine Wyldstyle, old and humble Vituvius and Batman, the boyfriend of Wyldstyle among others are there to help Emmet but Bad Cop is breaths down his neck at every corner. The adventure for which Emmet is hilariously and hopelessly underprepared begins.
The beauty of the story-telling of the movie lies in the right mix of emotion and humor that it carries. The references to pop culture such as Batman puns, jokes on Dumbledore and Gandalf getting mixed up, the appearance of star wars spaceship are downright funny even though young kids might not get them and at the end of the movie, your kid will be like.. ‘Bring on the sequel!’
